Verse of the Day---
- Psalms 106:1
'Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
God’s plan for salvation
What does God say about sin?
Who is a sinner?
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
What is the result of sin?
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Can we do anything on our own [good deeds, moral actions] to be saved?
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
What will happen at death for those who are not saved?
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Are we hopeless?
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Can we believe God’s promise?
Jesus said unto her, I am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
What do we do?
…what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Hope Bible Chapel
In January of 1948, a small group of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ began meeting together to remember the Lord on Sunday mornings at the down-town YMCA in Birmingham. Later, they moved to another location near Birmingham Southern College, and then on February 25, 1962, moved to 3926 Montclair Road, and changed their name to Mountain Brook Bible Chapel. There they met together for almost 40 years.
On December 9, 2001, we moved to our present location at 863 Ivawood Road, and changed our name to Hope Bible Chapel. On October 27, 2010, the saints of Westside Believers Chapel in Birmingham began meeting with us, and what a blessing they have been to our Meeting for more than a year now.
Here at Hope Bible Chapel, we gather together each week in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to remember Him in His death till He comes, as He asked us to do, for His Word says, The Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: and when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me. After the same manner also... He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins...this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till He come. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Matthew 26:27-28
And upon the first day of the week, ...the disciples came together to break bread...
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
